Wood used to be the primary building material for making toys but fell by the wayside as plastic took over. Wooden toys are made with a quality and craftsmanship that you do not often see with many of today's mass produced toys. If you are looking for a gift for one of your children or any kids a well made wooden toy will be a distinct gift they will always remember.
There are toys available for all ages. For younger children consider a wooden rocking horse. It is the closest thing they will get to ride a real horse without actually buying one. Also popular, are wooden trucks. Kids love toys that can move, and these trucks fit the bill. You can buy a wooden version of almost any type of truck.
Young children enjoy using their imagination. Foster that creativity by letting them play with wooden building blocks or Lincoln Logs. Watch as they make houses, bridges, perhaps even entire cities with what you gave them. A lot of architects and engineers got their first taste of design with wooden building blocks.
Maybe you want something they can use outside. Try a wooden wagon or wheelbarrow. Kids can move stuff around for their backyard projects or use it to haul friends or siblings different places.
Maybe your children think they are too old for toys. Entice them with wooden puzzles that will have them thinking for hours. On the other hand, interactive boards like Crokinole. Few kids could resist the allure of shooting wooden discs with their fingers that increases aim and strategy in the game of Crokinole. Alternatively, buy a nice wooden board for classic games like Chess and Checkers or Dominoes. Some boards are nicely designed so that the pieces fit right inside.
You will need a place to store all these toys, a wooden toy chest that will hold all these when not in use and will go well with all your wooden toys. Give a child a gift they will appreciate. Wooden toys are not out of style and do not cost that much, considering you are paying for quality and first rate work.
